Cloudlock was launched in 2011 with one simple goal in mind: to transform cloud security into a business enabler. From that initial goal, we’ve built out a unified cloud security platform that helps organizations protect their sensitive data in public cloud applications such as G Suite, Salesforce, Dropbox, Box, ServiceNow, Office 365, Third-party connected and other apps. After being acquired by Cisco in August 2016, Cloudlock now is part of the Cisco Cloud Security Business Unit.

Gil Zimmermann

CEO and Co-Founder

Gil is the CEO and Co-Founder at Cloudlock. Under Gil’s leadership, Cloudlock has grown into the market leader for cloud cybersecurity with more than 6 million enterprise users secured by Cloudlock’s products.

Prior to founding Cloudlock, Gil was an Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) at Cedar Fund. Gil has over 20 years of experience and has held key leadership positions at EMC Corporation and Sun Microsystems. Gil began his career in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) with several technology leadership positions in the Military Intelligence Elite Computer Projects Unit.

Gil was named 2015 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year New England winner and is a frequent speaker at key cloud cybersecurity and industry events. He has presented at the Dreamforce Conference, The CFO Technology Conference and the Israeli Cyber Security Showcase. He has been featured in Forbes, Talkin’ Cloud, SecurityWeek, BetaBoston, and more. Gil is the organizer of the Boston branch of, the world’s largest group of Israel-related entrepreneurs, executives and investors helping advance Israeli startups.

Gil has a High-Tech MBA from Northeastern University, and holds a double major BA in Computer Science and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University, and is a graduate of MAMRAM (Elite software developer program at IDF Computer & Technology Unit).

Ron Zalkind

CTO and Co-Founder

As CTO Ron is responsible for Cloudlock’s overall technology and product vision and continuous innovation.

Prior to founding Cloudlock, Ron was Director of Product Management at Interwise (acquired by AT&T), and held varied Engineering Management positions in Private and Military sectors such as the Israeli Air Force Software Development unit, where he worked on the development of mission critical intelligence systems. Ron has over 20 years of experience building complex software systems and product platforms.

Ron was named a CTO of the Year Finalist for the 2014 MassTLC Leadership Awards and Winner of the 2014 Golden Bridge Awards. He has been featured in SecurityWeek, TechCrunch, Boston Business Journal, and more. Ron has spoken at Dreamforce 2014, as well as the 2014 MassTLC Security Conference: Building Security Into an Insecure World.

Ron has a BA in Computer Science from the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Jaffa and is a graduate of MAMRAM (Elite software developer program at IDF Computer & Technology Unit)

Tsahy Shapsa

VP Business Development and Co-Founder

As a co-founder at Cloudlock, Tsahy is responsible for leading the company’s corporate and business development efforts. Prior to his current role, Tsahy built the company’s go-to-market functions including Sales and Marketing. Prior to founding Cloudlock, he held various business and technology management roles with companies like Sun Microsystems and Network Appliance, both domestically and internationally.

Tsahy was the founder and organizer of the Boston Cloud Services meetup with over 220 members, as well as the Boston Amazon Web Services meetup. He has been featured in NetworkWorld, Talkin’ Cloud, and more. Tsahy has spoken at the Privacy Academy and CSA Congress 2014, the 2014 AGC Partners’ Tenth Annual West Coast InfoSec and Technology Growth Conference, and the Data Storage and Security Summit – Israel NE Business Council in 2011. Tsahy served in the Israeli Prime Minister’s office as a security team leader. As an Officer in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Tsahy held various combat leadership positions.

Tsahy holds a double major BA in Computer Science and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University.

Rachael McCarthy


Rachael is the Chief Financial Officer of Cloudlock, with responsibility for overseeing and managing the company’s finance and accounting functions as well as managing relationships with the banking and investment community.

Before joining Cloudlock, Rachael served as Chief Financial Officer of Axeda Corporation, a pioneer in the development of solutions to securely connect machines and sensors to the cloud, which was acquired by PTC for $170 million in 2014. Rachael’s prior experience includes over 20 years of experience working as a senior executive in fast growing software and SaaS companies, in various financial, legal and business roles, including General Counsel of two software companies (Unica Corporation and Restrac/WebHire, Inc.) from very early stages through their initial public offerings.

Rachael holds a BS in Finance from University of Delaware, and a JD and LLM in Taxation from Boston University School of Law.

Ori Keren

VP Advanced Development, Cyber Intelligence

As VP Advanced Development, Cyber Intelligence at Cloudlock, Ori’s team has a mission to enable advanced insights for Cloudlock’s customers and the security industry at large. Ori was formerly VP of Engineering at Cloudlock where he enabled our talented group of engineers to execute and deliver continuous value to our customers. Ori joined Cloudlock in 2012 and built Cloudlock’s Israel Engineering branch.

Prior to joining Cloudlock, Ori managed an engineering group at Interwise (acquired by AT&T). With more than 13 years of experience, Ori has a solid record building excellent engineering organizations from the ground up and leading innovative software projects that drive mission critical value to large enterprises globally.

Ori has a BA in Computer Science from the Academic College of Tel Aviv-Jaffa.

Bernd Leger

Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Bernd is in charge of driving Cloudlock’s go-to-market strategy, including inbound marketing, product marketing, content marketing, public and analyst relations, marketing communications and sales enablement. He has 20 years of experience in helping transform fast growing companies.

Before Cloudlock, Bernd was the VP of Marketing for Localytics, helping establish the company as the leading provider for app marketing and analytics being used in more than 37,000 apps on more than 2.7 billion devices. Prior to Localytics, Bernd built the marketing organization at Rapid7 from the ground up and implemented a freemium-driven inbound marketing strategy that helped propel the company to 900% revenue growth in a span of 4 years. Earlier in his career, Bernd held numerous marketing leadership roles at Veracode, Oblicore (acquired by CA), Navisite (acquired by Time Warner Cable) and Surebridge (acquired by Navisite).

Bernd is a frequent speaker at conferences such as MassTLC, LinkedIn Talent Connect, DisruptHR and Ascent Venture Partners’ B2B IT Forum. He has guest lectured at the MBA Program at Boston College and at the Startup Institute in Boston and has written two books.

Bernd has a MBA from the University of Munich in Germany and has completed studies at Georgetown University.

Paul Novak

VP Operations and Compliance

As Cloudlock’s VP Operations and Compliance, Paul is responsible for the enterprise service levels and security compliance of the Cloudlock offerings. Paul has over 18 years of experience leading technology operations teams and a proven track record of delivering availability, performance, support responsiveness and compliance operations to a set of global SaaS customers.

Before joining Cloudlock, Paul was VP of SaaS Operations and Support at Axeda, a pioneer in the development of solutions to securely connect machines and sensors to the cloud, which was acquired by PTC for $170 million in 2014. There he was responsible for operations, support and compliance for a 7×24 Internet of Things platform service. Paul has also held operations leadership roles in fast growing SaaS companies like PowerSteering Software (acquired by Upland Software) a cloud PPM solution provider, Egenera a world wide data center management software and cloud service provider and Digex an Application Service Provider (acquired by MCI).

Paul has studied electrical engineering and mathematics at Northeastern University and later attended Boston University as a computer science major.

John Amaral

Head of Product Delivery

As the Head of Product Delivery, John is responsible for driving the product roadmap and engineering initiatives across the Cloudlock CASB and cloud cybersecurity solution set. John has more than 20 years of experience as a technologist and product development leader in information security and networking.

Prior to joining Cloudlock, John served as the Senior VP of Product Management at Trustwave where he guided the technical direction and development of several core Trustwave security product lines. He joined the company through the acquisition of data loss prevention leader Vericept in 2009 where he was Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Research and Development. Before Vericept, he was Chief Technology Officer at NEI, now known as UNICOM Engineering. He was also Chief Technology officer at Artel Video Systems. He was founder and Chief Technology Officer of ITS Corporation, a developer of broadband networking equipment and technology, which was acquired by Artel Video Systems.

John was selected as a top 40 under 40 business leader by American Venture Magazine in 2007.

John holds an Executive MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.

Jennifer Sand

VP Product Management

As Cloudlock’s VP Product Management, Jennifer is responsible for defining the company’s product strategy, including defining and executing on the product roadmap, user experience, and coordinating the delivery and launch of high value solutions.

For over 10 years, Jennifer has combined her deep technical skills with advanced market insights and business expertise to define and deliver enterprise-class SaaS and cloud solutions. Prior to Cloudlock, Jennifer led many product management and engineering efforts, most recently managing the core technology behind the Compuware APM Synthetic Performance Monitoring product line.

She has been featured in EContent Magazine, IPTV Magazine, InformationWeek, NetworkWorld and more.

Jennifer holds a BA from Wellesley College.

Vicki Appel

VP Customer Success

As VP of Customer Success, Vicki is responsible for ensuring Cloudlock’s customers achieve optimal results with our solutions. Vicki provides a positive customer experience in every aspect, and ensures that business and technical value is realized for our customers.

Prior to Cloudlock, Vicki was SVP of Customer Success at Jobscience, the leader in Social CRM (Candidate Relationship Management) delivering the first end-to-end recruitment system built natively on Before Jobscience, Vicki was Director at in the Strategic Services group driving revenue growth by prescriptively matching and positioning the right services for customers and by directing successful services engagements.

Vicki is a results-oriented customer success executive with more than 20 years of experience creating and implementing valuable growth and retention strategies. She has developed a level of subject matter expertise from combined experiences at PwC, ATG/Oracle and Razorfish. In those roles, she consulted with a range of regional and global companies in a variety of industry sectors serving as customer advocate and strategic partner ensuring long-term enablement and success.

Vicki received her BS from Lesley University in Organizational Development and her MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Matthew Maloney

VP Global Sales

At Cloudlock Matthew Maloney is responsible for leading the company’s global sales organization. As leader of global sales Matthew is responsible for the development and execution of Cloudlock’s sales strategy, recruiting and developing top sales talent, developing executive relationships, achieving profitable sales growth, customer satisfaction and reference development.

Prior to joining Cloudlock, Matthew led EnerNOC’s Strategic Sales Team who focus on the largest energy consumers in North America. Prior to joining EnerNOC, he was Vice President of Global Inside Sales and North American Product Sales for PTC, the leading provider of product development software. Matthew spent over 12 years at PTC where he held various sales leadership positions in the West Coast, Northeast and North America. He started his sales career at Standard Register a document management company where he he held field sales and sales leadership positions in Boston and the Mid-Atlantic region. Matthew also is certified in Dimension of Professional Selling and trained over 100 Standard Register sales representatives and managers.

Matthew graduated from Boston University with bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Science and lettered on the Boston University Football Team.
