CloudLock is excited to release a new set of features today, covering a number of additional search techniques that significantly add precision to Collaboration Security. Two significant enhancements are now available to CloudLock customers: Search by Doc ID and SIEM enhancements.

New Feature: Search by Doc ID
It is now possible to search by Document ID (“Doc ID”) inside of a Google Apps deployment. Document IDs are unique identifiers assigned to documents any Google Drive doc — you can see an example of one by looking at the URL of a Google Doc, for example:

The long string of seeming random letters and numbers after the /d/ in the URL pictured are the Doc ID.

Why it’s Useful
Being able to search by Doc IDs allows for security teams to respond to situations where they are made aware that a document is being shared inside of their organization (in one recent example from a CloudLock customer, a document was being shared that appeared to contain a list of sensitive customer ID numbers), but where they do not have the document’s name, only the link or Doc ID from Google’s built-in audit log.

With the new Search by Doc ID feature, the team can quickly find the document, change its ACL to ensure that it is not putting sensitive information at risk, and transfer ownership pending a full forensic investigation.

Where to Find It
Search by Doc ID is available from the Search Options section of the CloudLock dashboard, highlighted in the image below. Search options can be accessed by clicking the “Show Search Options” link within CloudLock:

New Feature: SIEM Enhancements
Improving upon the SIEM (Security Incident and Event Management) functionality released earlier this year, this enhancement allows a CloudLock administrator to specify a destination user for the scheduled exports.

Why it’s Useful
CloudLock’s philosophy for security notifications is to make them as flexible and customizable as possible. This approach is reflected currently in the Policy Engine, where summary notifications can be sent to a specific set of users who are responsible for following up on exposures and policy violations.

By extending this degree of customization to the scheduled SIEM export feature, organizations can now ensure that their response teams are always fully aware of potential risks and threats, working within a SIEM platform that is already familiar to them.

A secondary benefit here is that many SIEM programs can automatically import files from a Google Drive environment. By specifying an account other than the CloudLock administrator’s personal Drive as the destination for these scheduled exports, it is easier than ever to automatically add CloudLock’s precision cloud intelligence into their existing SIEM process.

Where to Find It
The new configuration setting can be accessed from the Settings -> SIEM Settings section of the CloudLock administrative interface, as pictured below:
