No one likes it when a vendor tells you the services to install their product will cost the same price as their software. No one likes it when they inform you that the project is going to take 6 weeks to implement, and then they hit you with a change order and charge you for 4 more weeks. Your employees will lose productivity and grow frustrated during the installation project, but to these vendors, that’s nothing to worry about. Neither is roaming around a cold and scary datacenter and accidentally unplugging the cable that’s feeding internet directly to the CEO’s laptop. Franken-SaaS vendors view these impediments as necessary evils and believe they are all just parts of the installation process.
Software and service has evolved in 2014. Most vendors make it easy, but some require an appliance you need to tap the network (read: downtime) or agents you have to deploy on user workstations (read: performance hog). Obstructing the user causes your whole company to slow down. Cause enough of a roadblock and the user will find a way to get their work done anyway- a practice affectionately known in the industry as Shadow IT.
It’s the age of the cloud, and the cloud relies on APIs to gather information these days. An API approach does not rely upon the comparatively archaic idea of protecting the network, when the concept of “the network” is no longer applicable. In other words, by working with platform APIs, CloudLock works the same way that the cloud does, rather than attempting to impede it’s functionality. APIs are non-intrusive to the user, easy to access, and give administrators the information they need right away.
CloudLock is the world’s first cloud-to-cloud information security solution. No in-line virtual or physical appliances block the user’s traffic or prohibit their work productivity. That means our Customer Success team is spending their time helping to deliver real value in the product, not burdening the customer with arduous setup times and incessant project meetings.
