An Open Letter to CloudLock Customers, Partners, Users, and Friends

This morning, Cisco announced its intention to acquire CloudLock. From the day Ron, Tsahy, and I founded CloudLock we had a grand vision – build the cloud security platform that enables people and businesses to accelerate their goals, securely in the cloud. From that initial idea, we’ve built a team of over 150 CloudLockers spread across three continents. We entered uncharted territory in every possible way across both the security and cloud landscapes. We continuously challenged ourselves to be better and improve the status quo, for ourselves, our team, our platform, and most importantly, for our customers and partners.CloudLock_co-founders-2016-06-28

As enterprises are retooling themselves and increasingly building their futures in the cloud, security has not only become a top business priority, it is now universally demanded by businesses and individuals alike, as a necessity to keep their cloud applications, their data, and their businesses safe. The ability to protect all of those assets in the cloud now has a name, Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB). In just the past couple of years, the world has come to the realization that not only is it an important issue to address, it is the number 1 priority for information security in 2016. Many organizations are either well underway, or already heavily building their futures in the cloud, and are now seeking technology solutions to address their piece of the shared responsibility model in the cloud. This bodes very well for CASB solutions (Gartner predicts we’ll see CASB Solutions go from 5% penetration in 2015 to over 85% by 2020). Those CASB vendors that can provide the superior solution that scales with customers beyond today’s immediate cloud adoption challenges to enable full cloud acceleration, will succeed.

We were bold and unconventional from day one. While our competitors were still focused on extending legacy approaches that placed emphasis on protecting unauthorized access and data leakage to the cloud, in essence looking at the cloud as a security problem, we built a cloud-native, API-centric platform that focused on secure enablement of the cloud in order to accelerate the objectives of the business and the end users. Our cloud cybersecurity and CASB platform has been adopted by more than 700 customers with tens of millions of users under management. Our platform has reached an unimaginable level of scale with billions of files and user interactions monitored daily. We’ve been recognized as one of the 100 fastest growing privately held companies and as one of the fastest growing security companies in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine. Our employees have voted us as one of the top 3 organizations to work for in the U.S. in Glassdoor’s 2016 rankings.

When we started talking with Cisco about potential opportunities to collaborate, we quickly realized how much we had in common. We share the same vision on the future of security that focuses on a platform that scales to any size, provides immediate value, is simple to manage and leverage, and is easily extensible through APIs. We also realized that by joining forces, we could accelerate the execution of our vision with greater investments in research and development, the CloudLock CyberLab, partner enablement, and global reach which is far greater than we could have ever achieved on our own. Customers will experience new capabilities and offerings that the combined Cisco Security offerings bring, unparalleled in the industry. On all fronts, the customer experience will only improve, even with the bar already set so high.
