End User Enablement

Managing access rights to data is a task that usually falls into the hands of IT. However, IT is only the custodian of the data. The owners of the data – the business users – understand the business context of the data and the collaboration needs and scope. It is only logical to enable the end-users to be responsible for the data entitlements.

The problem is that most data governance products are built to be used by IT managers, leaving the data owners without the much-needed capabilities in order  to be accountable for the data they own. This creates both risk and increased liability for the company as well as an increased workload on the data custodians – the IT team.

With the CloudLock For Google Apps end-user enablement features, the domain admin can designate non-admin users to have access to the CloudLock application, thus enabling them to manage their departmental data.

For example: a domain admin at a University can designate the security officer (who is not a Google Apps domain admin) to have access to CloudLock for Google Apps and run different compliance reports. Another example would be a government agency, in which the domain admin enables the administrative assistants of the different departmental directors to have access to manage data entitlements for that department’s data.
